Private Pilot certificate

The Private Pilot certificate is the first step in your aviation journey. As a private pilot trained at Home Field Aviation you will receive the necessary skills to safely, and confidently fly a small aircraft. Training includes navigation, maneuvers, emergency procedures and cross-country flight.

This certificate you will give you the freedom to fly to airports, explore the community, or to travel across country. You can take your friends and family on rides.

Requirements to get a Private Pilot certificate?

You must be 17 years or older. Be able to read, speak, write and understand English. There is ground school and a written exam to pass. You will need to log a minimum of 40 hours of flight training. There are specific requirements for solo, solo cross countries, and nighttime flights, as well.

Once you’ve met all of these requirements for a pilot certificate, you take a practical exam that consists of both an oral question and answer session and a flight check. After you pass your tests, you’ll earn a private pilot certificate.
